Visit us at the Cumberland Gap FolkFest where we will be celebrating the people & culture of Cumberland Gap.
Cori and the SK crew will be demonstrating cordage making (twisting plant fibers to create rope) and will have examples of plant fibers you can harvest here in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Our cordage demonstrations are hands on & appropriate for ages 8 & up. Try your hand in making cordage of your own and learn about the history, culture, & many uses of handmade cordage.
The Herbal Kitchen is baaaaack!!! All ages are invited to come out & play with our Mini Herbal Apothecary. Brew some fairy tea, make a mermaid stew, or create a flower mandala to take home. Tag us with your Herbal Kitchen pictures on Instagram using #southernkokua #folkfest2023 or @southernkokua.
Southern Kokua is being sponsored by FolkFest and Guardians of the Gap, which means that we are sharing the ALOHA to some of our FolkFest visitors! Prize winning categories include:
First child to play at our Herbal Kitchen
First adult to play at our Herbal Kitchen
