🌿Pictures from the Cumberland Gap Festival last weekend. We met lots of good people & can’t wait to go back again!💫
🌿Our beautiful new Southern Kokua wood sign was made by my friend & neighbor, Deborah. She is a talented wood carver & I posted some pics of her Appalachian art even though she was too shy to be in the picture.☺️
🌿We visited the @hillfolktn Herb Shop & the owners are wonderful folks who support the local community. They’re starting a local farmer’s market & offer items from various herbalist and Appalachian artisans. I hope they start selling t-shirts with their logo.😁
🌿Support small businesses!💚

Why Food Sovereignty?
Food Sovereignty is a God given inalienable birth right. It is the right to grow, raise, and process our own food. It also means access to a clean water source and the ability to save and swap our seeds. Without food sovereignty, we don’t have the right to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness.
How does Food Sovereignty work?
Food Sovereignty works best by building relationships. We all have our strengths, knowledge, and skills that we can share with our community. We reserve the right to have the community determine the quantity and quality of our food. The food supplier, food distributor, and consumer builds and maintains a relationship based on similar values, open communication, and transparency.

Our office is at the Surgoinsville Riverfront Park today. Just follow the smell of bread & sweet tea.🌿🌸
Violet is our Herb of the Month for April. When you purchase our Flower Power Grey Tea, know that each and every wildcrafted Violet was picked lovingly by hand.
Violet Folklore:
An Iroquois legend talks about two lovers from enemy tribes, a Warrior & a Maiden who ran away together & were killed. Blue Violets sprang up in the forest where their bodies fell & the birds & winds spread the flower seeds all over the Earth. Plucking the blue flowers was a reminder of constant love & the plant was used to make a compound to detect bewitchment.
More information on the plant can be found on our website or visit us in person during April & we will have an educational display board & plant samples to touch, see, taste, and smell.

“THERE ARE two spiritual dangers in not owning a farm. One is the danger of supposing that breakfast comes from the grocery, and the other that heat comes from the furnace.”
